Korean War Part 2?

In the article "Korean War Part 2?" After sixty years passed after the war in the a Korean peninsula. The Korean Peninsula has been divided into two different parts North Korea and South Korea.

In South Korea is protected by the U.S troops. South Korea has the most technologically advanced economies. Leader, Kim Jong Un, has threatens us. By threatened us by launching a "pre-emptive nuclear strike" between South Korea and the United States.

The United States declared that they would spend $1 million on missile defenses in Alaska and California.

After the war world war ended in 1945, North Korea invaded South Korea. Then the U.S.A step in and helped South Korea.

Time For A Rise?

In the article "In Time For A Raise," "president Obama wants to increase the fedural minimum wage to $9 an hour." Said Patrica Smith.

Quoted by Catrina Crable a 10th grader in Florida, says she works 20 to 25 hours a week at a resturant. She recieve $7.79 an hour. But she said thats still not enough to pay her car insurance and her cell phone bill and gas for her car. This quote stood out to me because Catrina Crable in only in the 10th grade and she saying her pay is not enough if you can imagine a grown up with bigger resoponsibilities and only getting about $7.79 an hour and they have to pay more then just car insurance and a phone bill and gas.

But..... then again what would happen to the economy if Obama raise the miminum wage up to $9. I believe stores owners will fire employees because of the minimum wage. For example instead of 5 workers working in a sandwhich shop now and like when he change the minimum wage go up it would be like 3 or 4 workers working in the sandwhich shop. All so if he raise the minimum wage taxes might go up because of inflation. This might rise the rate of unemployment even higher then what it is. This can really cut down on some employees hours.

I think Obama should raise the minimum wage to $9 because if he raise it people can do so much more with their money.

This topic remind me of me when i got my first summer job when i was 14 i was making minimum wage $7.25  and i was thinking is wasn't enough because they took 30% out of my pay check. I could only work for 4 hours a day because I was still a minor.

All Work and No play: Why your Kids Are More Anxious , Depressed

Studies believed that children's lack of play time affects emotional problems, can cause anxiety, depression, self control and attention problems.

quoted by Esther Entin "since about 1955... children's free play has been continually declining, at least partly because adults have exerted ever -increasing control over there children's activities, 'says the author Peter Gray, PH.D., Professor of Psychology (emeritus) at Boston College. Gray defines "free play" as a child undertakes him- or her-self and which is self-directed and an end in itself, rather than part of some organized activity."

according to gray for who ever intrude their children's play time is a problem. studies believe that the only time you'll see students outdoors is when they playing a sport while their parents watching and cheering them on.

More and More time have been taking out from kids play time in to other sources like doing school work and more shopping with their parents they have been taking out from kids play time and in to other sources. Quoted by "All work and No Play: Why Your Kids Are More Anxious, Depressed" said "The researchers found that compared to 1981, children in1997 spent less time in play and had less free time.  They spent more time in the house doing homework for school. Studies said "children in 1997 spent only about eleven hours per week at play."

Researchers believe that road traffic, child predators, and bullies are some of the reasons why children have less time playing outside. And "Preschools and Kindergartens are becoming more academically-oriented" quoted by the article. And some doesn't have recess or just have just little of it.

there are five ways that play benefits kids, is "When children are in charge of their own play, it provides a foundation for their future mental health." quoted by the article Play time can lead up to some mental issues and depression.

One of the five ways play benefits kids, is "play gives children a chance to find and develop a connection to their own self-identified and self-guided interest." meaning play makes children they way they are, it helps them find them selves. It help them make friends it build up there confidence its also a great workout.

The second one is "it is through play that children first learn how to make decisions, solve problems, exert self control, and follow rules."
Its true because when a child plays they learn all these things and when they go to school to learn they make good decisions to follow the rules and and they can take control over there lives. Like when a child doesn't build confidences to take over their life and most likely they would get bullied because they didn't to build confidence. It also can cause Anxiety and depression because the lack of they controlled life.

The third one is, "Children learn to handle their emotions, including and fear, during play."quoted by the article "in free play, children put themselves into both physically and socially challenging situations and learn to control the emotions that arise from these stressors. They role play, swing, slide, and climb tress." by facing fears by doing those things.

Forth one is "Play helps children make friends and learn to get along with each other as equal." I believe that this quote is very true because when i was growing up me playing with friends help me in so many didferent ways I learned to share with others and im very friendly. When you make friends it makes you more comfortable talking to people.

The very last one is "Most importantly, play is a source of happiness." When i play it do show my happy side making me forget all the bad and negative things in life. It makes you rememeber all the childhood play experiences.

My childhood was very playful I went outside everyday, longs as I did my homework first. This article makes me think if play time decreasing because children are more focus in school. This can lead up to highier rates in obesity.

Deadly Shooting

"Do we have the courage to stop this?" Said Nicholas D. Kristof atfer the deadly shooting in connecticut at sandy hooks elementary school.

Why America don't take guns seriously like drinking under 21 or under age driving. It's easy to buy a gun then buy a car.
"children ages 5 to 14 in America are 13 times as likely to be murdered with guns as children in other industrialized countries" qouted by Nicholas.

The United States not trying to ban guns. But trying to decrese the numbers shooting in a America. Studies believed that is should be hard to buy a gun just like trying to take a drivers test. And students should be protected in school by school codes and safty cameras , the lunch food should be tested for safty and bus drivers should have and pass to get in the school. and vistors  must be checked before they enter the school.
Shooting is unnecessary its always a better way to haddle things.

This article remind me of the the movie theater massacre in Calorado jully,20 killing 12 people at midnight while the people was watching the last movie of the dark knight. Thinking thats he was the joker.

The article make me think about how u can't be safe any where you go now.
always be catious of where you at and what you doing and who you with
So the question is do they have the courage to stop this?

16-year-old driving

should you let your 16-year-old drive? "Researches for the Institute for highway Safety say the answer is no, and they point to statistics to back up the position that raising the driving age makes sense and would save lives."

15-year-old Linnea Greci says " she sees the issue a little differntly.

President Adrian Lund is going to push it futher. Althought Lund Doesn't expect to lobby state legislatures, he said monday he will advocate for a higher minimum driving age in his speech Tuesday. He what to raise driving ages, because every time you turn around a 16-year-old getting in a car crash.

"I dont think it matters what age you are" sophomore at the Hinsdale Central High School said Monday before hitting the road for her driver's education class, "as long as you have the practice and experience."

Studies said "but 'we're still losing a lot of teens on the road each year, ' Lund said. Motor vehicle crashes kill more than 5,ooo teenagers every year.

Studies alsoblieved that  "In a prepared statement for release Tuesday, the institute contends research shows "that licensing at later ages would substantially reduce crashes involving teen drivers."

"This is kind of the next logical step,' he said of the insurance institute's push to raise the minimum age. ' ages would substantially reduce crashes involving teen drivers."

"In New Jersey, the only state with a minimum driver's license age of 17."' "The report cited a study from 1992-96 in which the rate of crash-related deathes among 16-and-17-year-olds was 18 per 100,000nin New Jersey, compared with 26 per 100,000 in New Jersey,"
Studies also believed that " the report also showed that the New Jersey fatality rate fell significantly for teens after a graduated licensing law was enacted.

I believed that it dont matter what age you are, if you know how to drive you should be able to drive. It all goes by the way how you drive and not your age. And also how mature your all.

Children poppin pills

Elementary students popping pills to keep there focus on task. Dr. Michael Anderson discovered  that the low income patients having a hard time in elementary school with their attention  spans.

The pills is for children with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. Dr.Anderson is  pediatrician for many poor families in Cherokee County, north of Atlanta. He decided that the society is to expensive to change the kid's environment. So we have to change the kid.

Dr.Anderson is outspoken of this idea its gaining intrest among some physicians. They prescribing stimulants to struggling students in schools that need extra money. Its not to treat A.D.H.D but to boost their academic scores.studies say wealthy students abuse stimulants to raise there good grades that they have already, high schools and colleges.

honestly i think this crazy because children shouldnt be taking pills just so they can stay focus in class. And children that have A.D.H.D and cant afford the medication.

This all remind me of when I use to take nigh quil to so i can sleep through the night. If this going on in high schools why are the teachers letting this happen????
